Contrary to popular belief, we didn't just pick this tape for the designs. At Body in Motion we use Dynamic Tape because it truly is the best functional tape on the market. The tape itself is made up of a stretchy blend of lycra and nylon, compared with that of traditional kinesiology tapes that are primarily made of cotton. These materials allow for a 4-way stretch in all directions instead of only two. Dynamic Tape can also stretch to 200% of its resting length and has many times the resistance and recoil of traditional K-tape products.

The combination of all of these factors mean that the tape is specifically designed to work mechanically. It alters movement patterns while absorbing load and re-injecting that energy back into movement without limiting the range of motion.

Dynamic tape is all about managing load, movement patterns, and function by introducing force into the system. In contrast, traditional k-tape products are only designed to lift the skin to take pressure off of pain sensitive areas, increase circulation, or to affect muscle activity via sensory input into the nervous system through the skin.

In use, Dynamic Tape has been specifically developed to provide strong mechanical assistance in order to:

  • Reduce the work on injured tissues

  • Assist weak muscles

  • Improve movement patterns

  • Augment stability via force closure mechanisms

  • Change position to improve the muscle's capacity to generate force

Dynamic Tape provides these measures while still allowing full range of motion even when performing complex, multi-planar movements like those required in sport or work. Correct application of Dynamic Tape is essential, and both Dr. Dukes and Dr. Toppin have taken specific training courses to get the most out of this amazing product.

If you think that Dynamic Tape would be beneficial in getting the most out of your day-to-day activities or exercise program, please give us a call to set up an appointment!
